Hydraulic Actuators

Union Marine Hydraulic Actuators are based on compact, simple and long-lasting design philosophies specifically to meet the increasing demands of today’s oil & gas and offshore environments.

Hydraulic Actuator body materials range from standard carbon steel to options for Stainless Steel 316 materials and anti-corrosive bronze materials.

Standard carbon steel types are paint coated with tough marine epoxy paint to withstand harsh and adverse marine environment.

Stainless Steel & anti-corrosive bronze types are with high accuracy machining and good finish surface and material properties are resistant to corrosions, acids, gases and chemicals.

Our hydraulic actuators provide superior performance & consistency even in low-pressure or high pressure hydraulic applications. The actuators work effectively from 60 Bar to 130 Bar. Other pressure ranges can be manufactured on request.

 

Hydraulic Actuators – Types and Series

Hydraulic Double Acting Actuator (HD Series)

Union Marine Hydraulic Double Acting Actuators (HD Series) are applicable for simple Open/Shut control to intermediate valve position control functions necessary for each quarter-turn valve control loop requirements and application.

Wide operating torque range from 80Nm to 11,000Nm. Suitable for non-submerged or submerged installation, non-hazardous area, hazardous area Zone 0 and Zone 1.

Control Modes:

  • Double Acting – Open / Close function
  • Modulation – Modulate to Open / Modulate to Close

Hydraulic Single Acting Actuator (HS Series)

Union Marine Single Acting Hydraulic Actuators (HS Series) are applicable for fail safe operation which can operate with “Fail Close” function or with “Fail Open” function according to valve control loop application and requirements.

Operating Torque range from 150Nm to 2,800Nm.
Suitable for non-submerged or submerged installation, Non-Hazardous Area, Hazardous Area Zone 0 and Zone 1.

Control Modes :

  • Single Acting – Spring to Close (Fail Close)
  • Single Acting – Spring to Open (Fail Open)
  • Modulation control with spring to Fail Safe position (Open or Close) during loss of hydraulic pressure

Control Block

Control Blocks furnished with each hydraulic actuators are capable of the following functions.

  • Provide hydro-locking of the valve in both closed and open position.
  • Prevent hydraulic oil from back flowing.
  • Hold the actuator to fail last position when there is a hydraulic failure (for double acting actuator)
  • Prevent the actuator from opening or closing when there is a hydraulic failure (for single acting actuator)
  • Control the speed of valve opening/closing.
  • Connections for emergency operation with hand pump

Hydraulic Power Unit

Design & Construction

Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) provide the fluid energy source to operate the entire hydraulic remote control valve actuation system.

From standard units to custom units. We provide our HPU design to required class specification & approval.

Hydraulic power units are specifically designed by considering all the actuator sizes, ratings and pipe runs for each specific project.

Hydraulic power accumulators are furnished with each hydraulic power unit designed based on the minimal remote valve control function & requirements, allowing emergency operation of critical valve loops during HPU failure.

 

 

Hydraulic Solenoid Valve Cabinet

Design & Construction

Union Marine Hydraulic Solenoid Valve Cabinet (SVC) is used for the control and the position signalling of each of the hydraulic operated valves.

Main Features of Solenoid Valve Cabinet:

  • Low leakage directional valves for better performance and extended lifespan of the hydraulics system.
  • Pulse control philosophy for low operating temperature and extended life of solenoid valve coils.
  • Full manual override control at solenoid valve panel.
  • Easy and simple upgrade from hardwired control to processor based control system.
  • Simple conversion to intrinsically safe system for hazardous area installation. Zone 0 / Class1 Div 1 applications.

Our standard range of Solenoid Valve Cabinet (SVC):

  • SVC32 (Control up to 32 actuators)
  • SVC60 (Control up to 60 actuators)
  • SVC80 (Control up to 80 actuators)
  • SVC96 (Control up to 96 actuators)
  • SVC120 (Control up to 120 actuators)

Other customised sizes available upon request.

SVC can be incorporated together with the Data Processing Cabinet, combining both hydraulic and electrical sections, designed to suit project & customer’s requirement.

The Electric section is designed to IP44 protection as standard and consists of all electrical components necessary for the Remote Control Valve System.

PLC Remote I/O can be incorporated at this section to enable various types of remote control valve configuration and system processing capabilities.

 

 

 

SVC Components - Manifold Block

Design & Construction

Union Marine Manifold block arrangement for control are designed in modular blocks. The blocks with 4-station and 6-station arrangement allows easy build-up for every project requirements. The internal connection and coupling between each modular block are designed to prevent leakage as well as for easy installation.

Each control station comprises 2 throttle valves for adjusting the travelling speed of the valve and isolating the control station during servicing of the respective station without affecting the rest of the hydraulic remote valve control system.

Top Block:

Top block for manifold arrangement consists of a by-pass valve and a pressure gauge for main pressure reading and By-pass operation during system commissioning to remove air in the hydraulic system.

Bottom Block:

Bottom block for the manifold arrangement consists of 2 stop valves, 2 quick connection for portable hand pump and 2 ports, P & T connections. The stop valves are used for complete isolation of P & T line in the manifold arrangement for servicing purposes or for emergency purposes when use together with a portable hand pump via the hand pump connection.

Main Manifold Block:

Main block for manifold arrangement consists of 4-station and/or 6-station.

 

SVC Components – Throttle Valve

Design & Construction

Throttle valve - Travel adjustment in both directions of rotation for quarter turn valves.

Standard materials in Brass / Mild Steel.

 

SVC Components – Solenoid Valve

Design & Construction

Hydraulic solenoid operated valves for directional flow control of valve loops.

  • Low leakage type for good performance and extended lifespan of the hydraulics system.
  • Full manual override control at solenoid valves
  • Options of intrinsically safe types for hazardous area installation.

Types of hydraulic solenoid valve available.

  • 4/2 way, detent type, double coil (I.S. and non I.S.)
  • 4/2 way, spring return, single coil (I.S. and non I.S.)
  • 4/3 way, spring centre, double coil (I.S. and non I.S.)

 

SVC Component - Volumetric Flow Meter

Design & Construction

Union Marine provide Volumetric Flow Meter with local visual display indicating the valve position via measuring the oil displacement in the hydraulic actuator.

Visual indicator are equipped with two end stoppers to limit the indicating pointer and adjustment from fully open to fully close positions.

Types of Volumetric Flow Meter.

  • VFM-E: Visual + Electrical open/close indication. ( for on/off function)
  • VFM-C: Visual + Electrical Analog (potentiometer) - (for modulating function)
  • VFM-V: Visual only

 

Emergency Hand Pump

Portable Hand Pump

For emergency operation of the valves complete with control valve.

Comprising of :

  • Selector Valve
  • Pressure gauges
  • Two hoses 3m long
  • Quick connectors
  • Oil Tank – 3 Litres

 

Fixed Hand pump

For Emergency operation of critical valves mounted in close proximity of control valve loop.

Data Processing Cabinet

Union Marine Remote Control Valve System Data Processing Cabinet processes the control and monitoring signals and necessary communication between electrical devices and intelligent devices and computer based control stations.

The raw data collected from field equipment are converted to signals for interface with PLC based systems.

Our configuration provides monitoring and control functions necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the Remote Control Valve System in accordance with the standards of marine classification.

Data Processing Cabinet comprises mainly of the following:

  • PLC CPU controller with Communication interface
  • PLC Input / Output modules
  • Power supply
  • Communication modules
  • Electrical components

We apply reputable electrical components which provides accurate and reliable control through proven design. The I/O Modules are of modular design that enable great flexibility for future conversions or upgrading.

Our Computer & Touch Panel Control Stations for the Remote Control Valve System are built on control platforms that can be integrated with:

  • Cargo monitoring & Control System (Tank Pressure, Tank Temperature,
    Cargo line Pressure, Ballast Water & Cargo Pumps pressure, Pump remote
